Meet Our Dedicated Vets

Each one of our team of seven caring and committed vets has his or her own area of specialisation or particular interest, to offer your companion animal the very best available care.

When you’ve discovered a little more about the vets who’ll look after your pet, you can read about the veterinary services the team provides.

Robert Bostock BVSc MRCVS, Senior Partnerback to top

Robert Bostock

After qualifying from Bristol University in 1973, Rob, who was born on a Leicestershire farm, worked for a year as a typical “James Herriot clone” in South Yorkshire before returning to his home county as a mixed practice vet.

Rob became a junior partner at Cockburn Veterinary Group in 1975 and really appreciates the friendly, family atmosphere of the practice team, in fact, he met his wife Liz shortly after joining the practice.  As Senior Partner, Rob takes a full and active interest in improving the standards and service to both clients and patients seen at the practice.

With a broad interest in all aspects of veterinary work, Rob has always enjoyed the variety that mixed practice offers.  He relishes the day to day challenges of life as a vet and is equally at home performing complex orthopaedic surgery as he is delivering newborn calves and lambs.

When Rob’s not greeting a new arrival, setting a broken limb or calling for frequent cups of tea, his passions include his family (including 4 daughters), Leicester City Football Club and an obsession (according to his wife) with music – both collecting and going to concerts.  Liz and Rob share their home with Milly, a dog of unknown pedigree, rescued as a pup from Aldi car park, and Poppy, their elderly cat.

Diane Storer BVM&S  MRCVS, Partnerback to top

Diane Storer

Raised on the family farm in Northern Ireland, Diane grew up with a love of all animals, and always had dogs, cats and horses.  She first practised her veterinary skills as a toddler when she decided to give the neighbour’s dog a hair cut – and was rewarded by being bitten!

Despite this, she continued to want to be a vet from an early age.  She honed her skills helping Mum and Dad on the farm, and “saw practice” with a local vet in the Sperrin Mountains.

Since qualifying from Edinburgh University Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, Diane has worked in  small animal practice in Berkshire and in mixed practice in Cheshire and Staffordshire before bringing her skills and experience to Cockburn Veterinary Group, initially as an assistant and then as a partner since 1999.

Diane enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and surgery because never knowing what is going to come in next keeps life interesting.

Diane is married to Martyn (who answers the phones when she is on call and proves that Cockburn Vet Group truly is a “family practice”).  They have two children, one dog, Skye, and a cat, Mr Pip, who came to the surgery as a stray kitten, was taken home for the weekend and was never returned to the surgery (ahem)!

Diane’s hobbies include walking, running (she ran the Nottingham Robin Hood half marathon for animal charities) reading and embroidery.

Susie Ridley BSc (Hons) BVMS MRCVSback to top

Susie Ridley

Susie, who has qualifications from two Universities; BSc (Hons) in Animal Science from Edinburgh and BVMS Veterinary Medicine MRCVS from Glasgow, joined Cockburn Vet erinary Group as veterinary assistant after seeing practice here for several years.

She enjoys the wide variety of veterinary work offered by mixed practice and is particularly interest in ultrasound imaging and would like to improve her skills in this area.  She really enjoys working with a great team of people in a job that is varied and never dull!

Susie regards herself as accident prone but survived a parachute jump whilst at University.  She enjoys horse riding, dog walking, pilates, and travel – although recently having bought her first house she now spends all her spare time in diy and gardening

Katherine Timms BVetMed (Hons) MRCVSback to top

Katherine Timms

Katherine joined the Practice as veterinary surgeon assistant after obtaining her BVetMed (Hons) MRCVS qualifications from The Royal Veterinary College in London.

Successful in diagnosing one of the first cases of lungworm in the area, Katherine is now helping to raise awareness and prevention of this potentially fatal disease.

She enjoys equine work and farm practice as well as small animal surgery.  She likes being part of a great supportive team and practicing in an area where she grew up.

Hobbies include horse riding, especially show jumping her thoroughbred warmblood and showing her miniature pony and  her terriers.

Katherine also has a small flock of pedigree Suffolk sheep and keeps busy gardening and helping her “other half” on his family farm.

Her Dad is a chocolatier, which you might not think has much to do with life in a veterinary practice but chocolate really is an excellent cure for a hard week’s work in the surgery!

Jeremy Hall BVMS MRCVSback to top

Jeremy Hall

Jeremy attended Glasgow University and joined the practice immediately following his graduation.

He is interested in small animal internal medicine, with specific interest in radiography, and large animal field surgery.

Jeremy enjoys working as part of a team in an informal and friendly environment and is always happy to lend a hand with small repairs in the practice!

He enjoys rowing and cycling at amateur level to keep fit and for the thrill of the competition, and the completed a 300 mile charity cycle ride from London to Paris in July 2006 in which he raised £1200 for Action Medical Research.

Claire Phillips BVetMed MRCVSback to top

Claire Phillips

After qualifying from the Royal Veterinary College, Claire worked in mixed practice in Lancashire for two years.  She then spent a year overseas, working on a large dairy practice in New Zealand before joining Cockburn Veterinary Group on her return in July 2008.

Claire enjoys all types of farm practice, particularly dairy work, and small animal medicine.  She is known in the practice as the messiest member of staff!

A real outdoorsy girl, Claire’s hobbies include walking (not just a gentle stroll mind you, she has walked the Pennine Way from England to Scotland!) and camping, as well as visiting and exploring new places.

Naomi Eaton BVSc MRCVSback to top

Naomi Eaton
