About Us
Cockburn Veterinary Group has been caring for domestic pets, cattle and some unusual breeds since the 1930's and we’ve been involved with local families for generations.
If your great grandparents grew up in this area, it’s very possible that Bob Cockburn, who, in the 1940's founded the practice and built up its reputation within the local community, cared for their pets or livestock, from his own home on Forest Road. The premises have moved several times and the existing practice at 100 London Road, Coalville, was established in 1972.
Bob’s son, Mike, together with John Nadin, went on to become partners and while the Cockburn name endures, all Cockburn family members have now retired.
The practice is now owned and run by Robert Bostock and Diane Storer, with our dedicated professional staff of five further veterinary surgeons, seven qualified or training veterinary nurses along with a caring and efficient reception and administration team.
While we remain a mixed species practice, with the continuing decline in the farming industry, our work has turned more and more from farm animals to companion animal species.
We offer an old fashioned friendly welcome to clients and their pets, backed-up by the latest, well-equipped facilities to aid diagnosis in even the most complex cases. We also offer our own, round-the-clock, emergency service.
Medical and surgical treatment is always carried out with compassion and skill by our veterinary surgeons and nurses, after full discussion with each animal’s owner.
Above all, we aim to provide care, compassion and communication.
